Alternative Wedding? Fab Mount Druid Wedding

Mount Druid, Castletown Geoghegan, County Westmeath. Very ‘Alternative’ that’s for sure!

Mount Druid Wedding, Boutique Glamping photography Castletown Geoghan by Corin Bishop Athlone

It took a while but eventually I got to photograph a wedding at this fantastic venue that I heard so much about and is only 30 mins from my house.

I got there very early so I could have a good look around, meet the owners and be prepared. As soon as I drove in, this place appealed to me. Some venues just have a certain ‘feel’ about them and you can literally sense it in the air. This place was certainly one of those places. It’s quirky, it’s homely, it’s welcoming and eclectic. Basically fab.

As the couple for the wedding were from Australia this was my first time to meet them. It was also their first time to see the venue too! I asked how they chose the place and Jaclyn said “I just put ‘boho wedding ireland’ into Google and it came up. I clicked the website, had a look a decided there and then that it was perfect!”. Well, by the end of the day the place had certainly exceed their expectations – and mine. Mount Druid is a creative photographers heaven. There is cool stuff everywhere. Great locations, great light. We could spend days photographing things there.

After meeting Jaclyn (she’d just come back from the hairdressers in town), we popped around to Kindalin House, a lovely cottage on the grounds of Mount Druid. The Groom was there getting a trim. The couple weren’t doing the whole ‘hide from the bride’ thing which was refreshing. However the Groom did go to the Boat House to get ready so they were separate till she walked in the Tin Chapel.

Mount Druid has a funky Tin Chapel on site. It’s spacious and welcoming and very handy having it right there. Having everything on site made for such a wonderful set up. After the ceremony it was back to the Boat House for food/drink/photo’s. Then while the guests walked back to the main Barn we (couple and the bridal party) popped up to  Kindalin House for some pics. Then it was back to the Barn for the grub!

I could keep blathering on but I’m guessing you want to see pictures. Make sure you check out Mount Druid Alternative Weddings too!
