Super Connemara wedding at Renvyle HouseConnemara is a wonderful part of the world and worth the journey. The scenery is epic, the weather changes every five seconds. It’s simply beautiful. It is a bit of a journey from my base in Athlone so I travelled down the night before, so I’d be ready for a relaxed start in the morning. Renvyle House do damn good Eggs Benedict which is an added bonus! Everyone was getting ready at Renvyle so I could easily move around and photograph both the bride and groom getting ready. After breakfast a little walk to the beach was in order, a few photographs, watched the nutters going for a swim, saw the Rolls Royce being taken off the low trailer and made ready. Super relaxed. The groomsmen were also out early so we went for a quick walk amongst the local wildlife to get some shots. I was able to pop into the bride and see the prep there and then back out to the groomsmen where Barry was practising his speech.
It was all super chilled out. Collette (on hair), Fiona (make up) were beavering away and doing their usual super job, not just the hair and makeup but also keeping everyone relaxed and stress free. The rest of the day was just as chilled. Twas quite windy (as usual down in Connemara) so lots of shots of hair flying around. I really liked the way Grainne’s hair was blown around and she didn’t mind. It suited her and the location perfectly. But big tip, if you’re thinking of getting married somewhere windy then either ‘go with the flow’ or use a lot of clips/hairspray! After the ceremony in Tully Cross and the visit to Paddy Coynes bar, we headed to Renvyle beach for a some pics. This is where we were shown how quickly the weather can change. It went from sun to massive downpour and back to sun in the space of 5 minutes. But the light on the beach after the rain cleared was amazing.
